LeBron James, Rick and Morty are all coming to MultiVersus soon as playable characters, Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games announced Friday.
Donning his blue Tune Squad jersey from the 2021 Warner Bros. Pictures film, "Space Jam: A New Legacy," LeBron James will be added once the open beta goes live for all on July 26. Rick and Morty will join the fray later, during Season 1.
James is set to the be the sixth Bruiser-type in MultiVersus, complete with a kit that specializes around his world-class playmaking skills.
As shown in his character reveal trailer, players using LeBron can use the rock more like a dodgeball, dealing damage with an array of slams and chest passes.
Here are some of LeBron's featured moves in-game:
- Buckets!: Aim/throw his basketball, then summon another
- Work the Floor: Sweeps a basketball around his ankles, hitting multiple targets
- Denied: Slam basketball down or create a fence that blocks projectiles
In-game, LeBron is voiced by John Bentley, who also voices Barret Wallace in Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rufus Thierry Blaiddyd in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.
Per IGN, the MultiVersus panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 also confirmed that Morty Smith will join the roster on Aug. 9, while Rick Sanchez will be playable at a later date.
Interestingly enough, Morty (Bruiser-type) and Rick (Mage/Ranged-type) will be separate characters, as opposed to the Ice Climbers-esque partnership between Tom and Jerry.
The additions of LeBron, Rick and Morty will take the MultiVersus roster to 19.
Here are the existing playable characters in the free-to-play, platform fighter:
- Batman (DC
- Superman (DC)
- Wonder Woman (DC)
- Harley Quinn (DC)
- Shaggy (Scooby-Doo)
