Larvitar, a Pokémon hailing from the Generation II, was initially released on Feb. 16, 2017 in Pokémon GO alongside other Pokémon from Jhoto.
Shiny Pokémon have often been considered a commodity in the main series Pokémon games, with "shiny-hunting" being a common activity done by many players. So, when shiny Pokémon become available in spin-off games, such as Pokémon GO, excitement naturally takes over for Pokémon fans.
Players have had the chance to encounter the shiny form of Larvitar for around three years, but this shiny has proven elusive.
Can Larvitar be Shiny in Pokémon GO?
Despite coming to Pokémon GO in 2017, the shiny form of Larvitar was not available until June of the following year. With the release of shiny Larvitar in Pokémon GO in 2018. Albeit rare, players have the possibility of running into the shiny form of this Pokémon while playing since.

The shiny form of Larvitar can be differentiated from the original form by its lime green exterior, with a pinkish-purple stomach, as opposed to the original.
Larvitar will be the featured Pokémon for the Community Day Classic event on Jan. 21, and will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.
