The Cincinnati Bengals' official Twitter account voiced their displeasure after seeing the low Madden rating for edge rusher Trey Hendrickson.
The popular NFL video game Madden 23 has been slowly releasing its player ratings and rankings as they get closer to the August launch of this year's game. It seems however that despite a Super Bowl appearance last season the developers are not all that impressed with the Cincinnati Bengals.
First, they left star wide receiver, Ja'Marr Chase, out of the top 10 and then left pass rusher Trey Hendrickson out of the top 10 at his position.
The Bengals official Twitter account weighed in after the snuff of Hendrickson,
Bengals take issue with Trey Hendrickson's Madden rating
Hendrickson had a great year for the Bengals last season totaling 45 pressures with 14 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. He added 3.5 more sacks in the playoffs playing a major part in the Bengals winning the AFC Championship. Hendrickson is not a one-hit-wonder either, in 2020 for the New Orleans Saints he had 13.5 sacks and 33 total pressures.
When looking at a top 10 player at a position group you are looking for someone that is a game changer and really helps a team win. I do not believe the Bengals make the Super Bowl without Trey Hendrickson last year, he made an impact in both the run and pass game and came in many clutch moments when the Bengals need a play made.
If the Bengals continue to play up to their ability Madden will not be able to deny it any longer and will be forced to update their rankings. The Bengals have added some bulletin board material for 2022, let's see if they are up to the challenge.
