CD Projekt Red have announced a DLC expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 — Phantom Liberty. But will it be free?
Back in September, the studio announced Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the first expansion DLC for the action RPG. The DLC is set to release for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Stadia in 2023. The Phantom Liberty expansion was revealed during CD Projekt Red'sNight City Wire special live show with a minute-long teaser. It featured a nice little shoutout from the voice of Johnny Silverhand, Keanu Reeves.
CD Projekt Red game director Gabriel Amatangelo said of the expansion, "It's a new style of plot we're having fun with. New cast of characters, expanding on a new district in Night City where it primarily takes place."
Will Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC Expansion be Free?
With the expansion set to arrive on current gen consoles and PC, many have been wondering whether or not the DLC will be made available for free. Given the game's tumultuous and problematic launch, many players are still feeling the sting of the game's initial offerings. That said, CD Projekt Red have continued to make strides in fixing the state of the game to its now current state.
Sadly, though, the studio have announced that the upcoming expansion will in fact be paid DLC.
Speaking to GamesRadar, CDPR's global PR director Radek Grabowski said "as for the expansion's pricing - we have not revealed exact details yet, but it will be a paid one."
The studio has also confirmed that Phantom Liberty will be Cyberpunk's first and only major expansion.
