The highly anticipated survival MMO The Day Before has been delayed until March 2023.
One of Steam's most wishlisted games, The Day Before, has been delayed until March 1, 2023. In an exclusive statement to IGN, the game's developer Fntastic revealed that the reason for the delay is due to the game switching to Unreal Engine 5.
The Day Before was originally scheduled to be released on June 21, but with the change to a new engine, the release has been pushed back by almost a year.
"Feeling and understanding the great responsibility that we face, with enormous gratitude in our hearts, were pleased to announce that The Day Before is switching to the new Unreal Engine 5 technology," the post read. "The transition to a more advanced and adapted open worlds engine, will make the gameplay of The Day Before even more fantastic.
"In this regard, we inform you that the new release date of the game will be March 1st, 2023."
The Day Before is set to be an open-world survival MMO set in a post-pandemic America. With the world overun by the infected, players are in constant competition with each other for food, shelter, and general survival. The setting doesn't seem so unrealistic these days.
The premise certainly has a lot of people intrigued, with the game currently sat as one of the most wishlisted on Steam. It's an ambitious project, so perhaps the lengthy delay could work in its favor.
