It appears Hunter "SicK" Mims will not return to the Sentinels lineup for the 2022 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) North American Last Chance Qualifier.
The news was seemingly broken by Sentinels Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan during his Twitch stream on Thursday. Sentinels has yet to make an announcement on SicKâs status for the event.
"SicK is not coming back for LCQ," ShahZam said in his June 30 stream. "He is not playing in LCQ."
On May 28, SicK was initially subbed out of the Sentinels lineup during Week 3 of the VCT Stage 2: Challengers NA Group Stage because of a family emergency.
On June 1, Sentinels announced that Sick would be taking an extended leave of absence to attend to an on-going family matter.
Sentinels went on to finish 0-5 in groups, ending its VCT Stage 2 run.
Following VCT Stage 2: Masters Copenhagen, which will run from July 10 to July 24, all eyes will turn to the regional LCQs in August. Exactly one spot is still left for a team to join OpTic Gaming and XSET in representing the region at Valorant Champions 2022, the VCT's end-of-year final taking place in September.
Although Sentinels has had far from the ideal run so far in the 2022 VCT season, its Valorant Champions hopes are still alive by virtue of NA Circuit Points.
Making up the rest of the field during the NA LCQ will be The Guard, FaZe Clan, Cloud9, NRG, 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses and Shopify Rebellion, which recently signed the former Luminosity roster.
