If you've been itching to give Apple Music a try and own a PlayStation 5, Apple and Sony are once again teaming up to give away up to six free months of Apple Music exclusively to PS5 owners. All you need to get started is a PlayStation Network account and an Apple ID.
Redeeming the offer is pretty simple. Download and open the Apple Music app on your PlayStation 5 and follow the on-screen instructions to get logged in and claim your offer.
According to Sony's FAQ, the promotion is only available to new and "qualified returning" customers of Apple Music. The fine print, however, notes that the "qualified returning" group only gets five free months whereas new users get six. It doesn't specify what is considered "qualified," but you probably can't cancel Apple Music today, log on to the PS5 and grab an extended free trial.
The offer can only be redeemed on a PlayStation 5 console, and you have until Nov. 15, 2024 to claim it. Once redeemed, it'll be like any other Apple Music subscription and you can use it anywhere, including Apple's hardware, Android devices, PCs, and other platforms.
After the six months are up, Apple Music will renew at $10.99 per month, which is now Apple's cheapest non-student plan after it dropped the $4.99-per-month Apple Music Voice plan.
In PCMag's recent Readers' Choice survey on streaming services, Apple Music was the top pick for paid streaming music services. The service grabs the highest ratings for overall satisfaction and likelihood to recommend, as well as high marks for every other satisfaction question we asked—save for satisfaction with customer service and subscription cost.
