With Solgaleo and Lunala both making their debut in Pokémon GO, many are wondering which one to get, and how to get them.
As part of the Season of Light, the Astral Eclipse event has begun which brings both Solgaleo and Lunala to Pokémon GO. Players will recognize these Pokémon from the covers of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. While players will be eager to catch them and add them to their collection, there are some important conditions that need to be met in order to obtain each of the Pokémon.
How to Get Solgaleo and Lunala in Pokémon GO
In order to add Solgaleo to your team in Pokémon GO, players will need to use 100 Cosmog Candy on Cosmoem during the daytime hours. Similarly, to evolve Cosmoem into Lunala in Pokémon GO players will need to use 100 Cosmog Candy during the night-time hours.
Pokémon GO Solgaleo vs. Lunala
Given how much Candy is required to evolve Cosmoem into either of them, the majority of players might only grind for one of the two. So, which is better? Solgaleo or Lunala?
It boils down to which type and move set you prefer. Solgaleo is a dual Psychic/Steel-type Pokémon whereas Lunala is a dual Psychic/Ghost-type.
Solgaleo is weak to Ground, Ghost, Fire and Dark-type moves. Lunala is only weak to Ghost and Dark-type moves, but they'll do far more damage to Lunala than Solgaleo.
While Solgaleo might have more weaknesses, it also has more resistances, too. It's resistant to:
- Normal
- Flying
- Rock
- Steel
- Grass
- Ice
- Dragon
- Fairy
- Poison
- Psychic
Lunala is resistant to:
- Poison
- Psychic
- Normal
- Fighting
Both Pokémon also have a very low chance to be Shiny.
