Overwatch 2 is finally here. One of the biggest changes made was reducing teams to five heroes and making tanks tougher. For the first month of Overwatch 2, we have compiled a list of the best and worst tank heroes to play in Overwatch 2 to help guide you as players new and old jump in.
S-Tier
- Orisa
- D.Va
Orisa can use her automatic cannon and Energy Javelin to keep foes out of her way. Using her Fortify ability will make her harder to eliminate. D-Va can use her Defense Matrix to counter several powerful attacks. She is also quite mobile for a tank making her ideal for breaching through enemy lines.
A-Tier
- Sigma
- Winston
Sigma has had a health increase to 550 making him even more durable than he was in the first game. Sigma's can be hard to land but when they hit it can hurt. Similar to D.Va, Winston the gorilla is a mobile tank that can easily hold off weaker DPS heroes. He was given a new charge attack which should help him with offensive options.
B-Tier
- Doomfist
- Zarya
Doomfist has been adjusted from a DPS hero to a tank hero in Overwatch 2. With increased health and a new power block ability, it can block 80 percent of damage to the front. Zarya shield has been changed to be controlled with charges instead of bubbles. There are two for her use how players please and it will cool down on use.
C-Tier
- Junker Queen
- Reinhardt
The new hero Junker Queen had to be adjusted between the beta and the game's launch. Junker Queen can boost her health and allies with her Commanding Shout. Reinhardt's Fire Strike has been reduced in damage but also given two charges. His Barrier Field health and regeneration rate have decreased.
D-Tier
- Roadhog
- Wrecking Ball
Roadhog is pretty much a beefy DPS hero so for those that like to rack up on eliminations as a tank then Roadhog is their hero. His range is short and his signature hook requires precision which might not be best for beginners Wrecking Ball can still be a durable distraction but with fewer heroes around. Being the last character to unlock makes sense as Wrecking Ball's movement can come with a learning curve.
