PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA: A couple's prank has triggered outrage among netizens as they were seen licking a tub of ice cream before putting it back in a supermarket's freezer. Tequan Hines and his partner Asia, from Portsmouth, Virginia, left many users seething when their video went viral.
The video, which has now been removed from their Instagram account, shows the two making their way down the freezer aisle of a local supermarket. Hines encourages his partner to open a tub of soft whip ice cream and lick the top after making sure no one was looking. Hines then records the entire incident before asking Asia to hold it over her shoulder so he can have a go at it.

'Let me taste it!'
"Let me taste it. Let me taste it," Hines was heard saying in the video. Asia looked further down the aisle in fear of getting caught and said, "Hurry up, hurry up!" As the pair had no wish of buying the ice cream in the first place, Asia rushed to put the tub back in the freezer. The short video ends with thw two leaving the place while holding back their laughter.
However, even after the video was deleted, it was later posted on Twitter where it garnered over three million views and sparked outrage among many.
'Why are we doing this again?'
Outraged netizens took to Twitter to slam the two. One user said, "Why are we doing this again? Didn’t we learn from the last time?" Another tweeted, "So when are they getting locked up." Another added, "Now I don’t wanna eat the ice cream I got myself to enjoy with my cake I’m throwing everything away," while another chimed in with, "This is one of the things that started covid 19 but y’all don’t want that conversation." "I really hope they got arrested for this , there’s nothing cute about it," another user tweeted.
A similar incident
Another similar incident ended with the person going to jail. D'Adrien L'Quinn Anderson of Port Arthur was sentenced to 30 days in jail for licking a tub of Blue Bell ice cream at a Texas Walmart before returning it to the shelf in March 2020. He was also slapped with an additional 180 days probation over two years, and ordered to pay a $,1000 fine and $1,565 in restitution to Blue Bell Creameries.
According to Virginia state law, an individual who "adulterates or causes to be adulterated any food, drink, prescription or over-the-counter medicine, cosmetic or other substance with the intent to kill or injure any individual who ingests, inhales or uses such substance" can be charged with a Class 3 felony, per the Daily Mail.
