1. Background
MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, is a 25-year-old YouTuber with a net worth of over $105 million who is well-known for his charitable antics, according to moneymade.io. He was raised in Greenville, North Carolina, and at the age of 13 uploaded his first video on YouTube. Even though he wasn't immediately successful, he worked hard to understand the YouTube algorithm to gain recognition and subscribers.
Notably, MrBeast even quit college after attending for just two weeks to focus on building his YouTube channel. Success eventually arrived, and today he has become one of the most successful YouTube creators, with 153 million subscribers.
2. Teaches children to help others
Children who watch MrBeast videos are introduced to tales of those in need and given a happy ending when the YouTuber steps in with his philanthropic acts. According to media psychologist Pamela Rutledge, one of the key factors in youngsters' favoring him is his kindness. She said, “MrBeast gives away large amounts of money and prizes. This appeals because it creates the excitement of potentially winning something, whether realistic or not. Generosity is also a valued social norm, so it makes liking MrBeast more acceptable. 3. Stands against transphobia
Chris Tyson, a MrBeast’s crew member and childhood friend, declared in April 2023 that they identified as gender nonconforming and had started hormone replacement therapy as part of their gender transition. When some internet users reacted with transphobic remarks, Donaldson stated his stance on the topic and reaffirmed his friendship with Tyson.
4. Hosted the 'Finger on the App' challenge
A one-time multiplayer smartphone game called ‘Finger on the App’ by Donaldson and the Brooklyn-based art group MSCHF was launched in June 2020. The participant with their finger still on the phone screen at the end of the game wins $25,000. In the end, four users who had their fingers on the app for more than 70 hours each won $20,000.
5. Launched his company Feastables
Donaldson announced the opening of a new food company named Feastables in January 2022. The firm's first product was a line of chocolate bars called "MrBeast Bars." Initially, they had three types of bars: the classic, almond, and quinoa crunch. Alongside the launch, there was a contest offering over $1 million in prizes, including 10 grand prize winners who would have the opportunity to compete for a chocolate factory in a future film.
