With the intent of "widening options even further by addressing the top performers to be more in-line," it appears the Vanguard assault rifle Variable Scopes have been nerfed in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5.
As many in the Warzone community can likely attest to, the Variable Scope offerings for the Vanguard assault rifles (e.g. SVT-40 PU Scope 3-6x) have notably long dominated the weapon meta since their arrival.
Now, it appears the long-range meta could truly be more wide open than it's been in quite some time.
"They now have a glint on them, reduced recoil control and adjusted ADS time," the Season 5 patch notes read. "This will have a significant impact on the long-range playstyle, enabling wider options and not total domination from Vanguard assault rifles."
As acknowledged by both Raven Software and Warzone loadout content creators such as TrueGameData, it seems the playing field has just been leveled for the various ARs across the three CoD titles, especially considering the heavy nerfs that the KG M40, STG44 and Cooper Carbine just received.
Ultimately, this should mostly make options like the Grau 5.56, Kilo 141, M13 and Vargo 52 more viable on Caldera, as the smaller Resurgence maps will likely see little-to-no changes from this development.
