In addition to revealing Madden NFL 23's FieldSENSE next-gen gameplay system and making it available for pre-order, EA Sports launched the upcoming game's Closed Beta.
As with most closed betas, this is a large-scale test where a certain number of players can get hands-on experience with specific parts of an early version of Madden NFL 23. Players can share their experiences with EA regarding how the game performs, and if its servers are ready for worldwide launch.
For those interested in participating in the test, here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about the Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta.
Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta: How to Get Access
The Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta kicked off on June 2 and is set to end on June 20 at 12 p.m. ET.
Like in previous years, the Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta is only open to a limited number of players in North America who play on either a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, the only way to download the beta is by entering a one-time use unlock code.
There are two ways to get a Closed Beta code:
- Check your email associated with your EA Account for a chance to get access
- A select group of current Madden NFL players will be chosen to get access
At the time of publication, the opportunity to head to the registration site and sign up for a chance to be included in the Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta has expired.
For those who signed up and received a code, feel free to follow the instructions below:
To download on PlayStation:
- Use your existing Sony Entertainment Network account on PSN
- Select the PlayStation Store icon on the system home screen
- Select Redeem Codes at the bottom of the menu on the PlayStation Store
- Enter the code
To download on Xbox:
- Go to Games under Store
- Select Use a Code
- Sign in if prompted
- Select or enter the code
For those who signed up but didn't receive a code, the codes are said to be being sent out in waves during the course of the closed beta, so keep checking your email.
For those who missed the registration period, EA said that it may be dropping extra codes on its social channels on Twitter (e.g. @EAMaddenNFL).
When participating in the Madden NFL 23 Closed Beta, EA is encouraging players to refrain from recording, streaming and/or capturing any portion of the early gameplay. Doing so is said to result in removal from the Closed Beta as well as complete bans on all Madden NFL accounts. Any content that is posted will be taken down.
