With the most recent Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, being released a little over two months ago, players are already hyped for another game.
With the immense amount of new features introduced in both Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the next installments in the Pokémon series are sure to excite and shake up the Pokémon main series games' formulas.
Is a New Pokémon Game Coming Out in 2023?
While no concrete evidence supports the fact that there will or won't be a new game in 2023, looking at the Pokémon Company's track record, it is possible to get a better sense of answering this question.
Pokémon Sword and Shield, the previous entries within the Pokémon franchise released in 2019, were followed by a year of DLC releases, those releases being entitled the Crown Tundra and the Isle of Armor.
2021 saw the highly-anticipated remakes of the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, finally come out. These games acted as a prelude to Pokémon Legends: Arceus in 2022, the first games like it in the Pokémon series.
At the end of 2022, in November, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were released as an open-world Pokémon experience. Looking at Sword and Shield as reference points, 2023 will likely be a year of downloadable content releases for Scarlet and Violet, with there possibly being teases of new games closer to the end of the year.
