Players can now connect Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet to Pokémon GO for some expanded gameplay features. Here's how.
The Pokémon Company has expanded the ways in which their games can interact and connect with each other. The lasted games to be linked together are Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Pokémon GO. By linking the games, players will be introduced to some new gameplay features, such as being able to send and receive Postcards between games that result in different items and effects in each.
For example, sending and receiving Postcards in Pokémon GO will allow players to earn the Coin Bag and Golden Lure Modules, which can be used to nab a Roaming Form Gimmighoul. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Vivillon's with different patterns will apeear in the wild, and players will be able to earn themselves Gimmighoul Coins.
In order to start earning these rewards, players will need to know how to link the two games together.
How to Link Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon GO
To begin pairing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon GO, players should first open up the Pokémon GO app and follow these steps:
- Open the menu by tapping the Poké Ball at the bottom of the screen.
- Go to "Settings" in the top right.
- Scroll to the bottom and select "Connected Devices and Services."
- Select "Nintendo Switch," then "Connect to Nintendo Switch," and finally select "Pokémon Scarlet" or "Pokémon Violet."
Next, players will need to open up their version of either Pokémon Scarlet of Pokémon Violet via the Nintendo Switch, then:
- Open the X Menu by pressing the X Button
- Select "Poké Portal" and then "Mystery Gift."
- Select "Connect to Pokémon GO."
- Tap "Pair with Pokémon GO account."
- When the prompt "Would you like to pair with this account?" pops up, select "Yes."
How to Send a Postcard from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Once you've connected the two Pokémon games you'll be able to send a Postcard. To do this from Pokémon GO follow these steps:
- Open the menu by tapping the Poké Ball button.
- Tap "Items" in the bottom-right.
- Open the "Postcard Book."
- Choose the Postcard to send, then select "Send to Nintendo Switch."
To receive the Postcard in Pokémon Scarlet or Violet:
- Open up the X menu by pressing the X Button.
- Select "Poké Portal" and then "Mystery Gift."
- Select "Connect to Pokémon GO," then again on the next screen.
Players will need to download and install the latest update data for Pokémon Scarlet orPokémon Violet in order to make use of these new features.
