Nintendo hardware has a notorious reputation for holding on to a price point for a really long time. Why should they bother to give you a discount? Where else are you going to play Mario and Metroid and Zelda? Well, if you're a penny-pinching gamer who hasn't upgraded to the Switch OLED model - and you should, because we gave it an "Outstanding" rating in our review as well as an Editors' Choice award - the time is now because of this very weird deal.
The Switch OLED isn't a drastic update to the successful console, but the new features it brings to the table are very welcome. The biggest selling point, the organic light-emitting diode panel screen, delivers richer and brighter colors with better contrast. A few quality-of-life improvements like a flip-out stand on the console's back, larger speakers, and native Bluetooth audio compatibility make this the Switch to own.
Here's the rub: this is a Japanese model Switch, but games are not region-locked and you can easily change the OS language to English, so there are no problems there. The charger cord is different, but since the Switch charges by USB-C you probably have one lying around anyways. We're not sure how long this deal is going to last before somebody makes a fuss, so get on it now to get $70 off of a Nintendo Switch OLED. We'll see you in Smash.
