Now, it's been revealed that Square Enix are planning a closed beta test for the game later this year. The exact dates for the closed beta have yet to be revealed, but many players will no doubt be hoping for an open beta to swiftly follow.
Ever Crisis will offer a retelling of the original Final Fantasy VII, along with its canon titles: Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Ceberus, and even Advent Children, the Final Fantasy VII movie. Content will be released in episodic installments, with chapters that can be freely selected from a timeline, allowing players to jump between different entries in the series. The game's combat will also be similar to that of the ATB (Active Time Battle) system.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be available on Android and iOS devices, and is set for a worldwide release (except China) in 2022.
