Ditto Pokemon GO February 2023: How to Catch

Catching Ditto in Pokémon GO has proven to be incredibly difficult due to its unique catching method. Some players may not even know how to go about encountering one due to its difficulty to find in the wild.

It is worth noting that Ditto can appear disguised as a lot of other Pokémon, a trait it shares in the main series games as well, but what makes the task difficult in Pokémon GO is that it is impossible to know if it is a Ditto until caught.

Ditto is #132 in the PokéDex, this number indicating it comes from the Generation I games set in Kanto. In every game set in Kanto, players could witness how Ditto is very rare to encounter in most areas, and even when it is encountered, it can still be tricky to catch if players aren't careful.

Ditto can be disguised as any of the following Pokémon as of today, Feb. 7:

  • Ekans
  • Ghastly
  • Spinarak
  • Natu
  • Surskit
  • Numel
  • Bidoof
  • Finneon
  • Lillipup
  • Dwebble
  • Siwrlix

Catching any of these Pokémon enough, players should see that they will transform into Ditto once caught.

An added layer of complexity is that Shiny Ditto will be disguised as Pokémon in their normal form, making the shiny form a true commodity for dedicated players.

Thankfully, players should not have much trouble finding these Pokémon in the wild necessarily, but having to catch many of each just to maybe have the chance of catching a Ditto instead can be a tiring commitment.

In the past, Ditto has taken the form of Pokémon like Weedle, Ledyba, Purrloin and many others, but as of right now, the aforementioned list is accurate to what players should be searching for.

Ditto was released in Pokémon GO on Nov. 23, 2016 and is still available today.
