If you're considering purchasing a PS5, Sony has decided to sweeten the deal by offering a free game for a limited time.
As Engadget reports, the free game offer is available to anyone in the US who buys and activates a PS5 console by Oct. 20 this year. The choice of games is quite generous and there's something for everyone as the list below shows:
Death Stranding: Director’s Cut
Demon’s Souls
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
God of War Ragnarök
Horizon Forbidden West
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Returnal
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
The Last of Us Part I
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
The offer is for a digital version of the selected game, so you'll need to create a PlayStation Network (PSN) account if you don't already have one.
Once your PS5 has been setup and activated, simply navigate to the PlayStation Store on your new console to claim your free title. There should be a banner advertising the offer, which you can click to load the page featuring the eligible titles. Select one, and the game will be downloaded.
Sony isn't struggling to sell PS5 consoles, and has already blown Xbox out of the water when it topped 40 million sales back in July. So why be generous and offer a free game with every console? It could be that Sony wants to boost the number of people who own a PS5 before the holiday season so more games are sold. However, it could be a way to clear existing stock in preparation for a PS5 Slim console launch, which Microsoft claims is arriving this year.
