Austin "SlasheR" Liddicoat will be the new main AR for the Atlanta FaZe in the 2023 Call of Duty League (CDL) season, the North American organization announced Friday.
SlasheR conveniently swaps spots with Alec "Arcitys" Sanderson, who had spent the last two seasons with Atlanta before being acquired by the Los Angeles Guerrillas on Wednesday.
Days before the start of the official 2023 CDL Year on Aug. 22, Arcitys tweeted that he was a restricted free agent in what was just one of the many surprising storylines fueling the community's annual "rostermania" fever at the time.
With the dust now settled, the move marks a "full circle" moment of sorts for SlasheR, whose first experience playing for a "Tier 1" Call of Duty org came with FaZe in 2014.
Heading into Modern Warfare II, the former CoD World League Championship 2016 winner continues to carry a reputation as one of the best individual main ARs in the scene.
In the CDL era, however, SlasheR has had some well-documented struggles in the standings department. Since winning back-to-back Black Ops 4 tournaments with 100 Thieves, SlasheR was a critical part of the OpTic Gaming Los Angeles and Los Angeles Thieves rosters that never lived up to their potentials.
This past season in Vanguard, SlasheR helped the Guerrillas hoist its first-ever Call of Duty trophy at Major 2.
After going on to miss out on Championship Weekend 2022, SlasheR is now walking onto the team that finished second in the event and has yet to miss a CDL Champs grand final.
The 2023 Atlanta FaZe CDL roster is:
- Tyler "aBeZy" Pharris
- McArthur "Cellium" Jovel
- Chris "Simp" Lehr
- Austin "SlasheR" Liddicoat
- James "Crowder" Crowder (Head Coach)
