Asmongold: Blizzard bans World of Warcraft players for griefing Twitch streamer

Since certain players who admitted to going over the line and targeting Asmongold in the World of Warcraft Classic were banned by Blizzard, the Twitch streamer can play the game without fear of dying at the hands of griefers.

Even though World of Warcraft has a history of being slow to respond to allegations of griefing, the Asmongold incident might be a turning point for the corporation. Something important could be coming, according to an encrypted test build.

Why did Blizzard choose to ban griefers?

In a recent stream, Asmongold responded to the news that Blizzard had banned certain World of Warcraft Classic griefers who had followed him around and kept him from earning experience points. Another streamer, Savix, published the story, claiming to have spoken with Blizzard GMs about the issue and to have received messages from Discord.

Following many reports from players who acknowledged the griefers' actions and provided screenshots of their ban, Blizzard made the decision to ban a number of well-known griefers. Whether these players were barred for specifically griefing Asmongold or for griefing, in general, is still unknown.

While Asmongold admitted that he was a griefer in the past and had been banned from World of Warcraft, he was aware that griefing is unacceptable behavior and a reportable offense under the game's terms of service, Gamerant reported.

How to play World of Warcraft Classic?

One of the most popular ways to play World of Warcraft Classic is through Hardcore mode, which is a player-run system that makes leveling in the game more challenging. To put it simply, dying in Hardcore mode requires the player to delete their character, with no exceptions.

When combined with the fact that experience points and leveling in World of Warcraft Classic are far slower than in Dragonflight, and the related risks of meeting creatures who can attack a player without warning, Hardcore mode lives true to its name. However, just because Hardcore mode is designed to be difficult does not mean that it is entirely uncontrolled.
