Despite all the Apex Legends weapon meta changes over the years, there has been one constant. The R-301 is one of the best weapons in the game. It has great recoil, range, and damage and can be utilized in almost every scenario.
Respawn has done "slight" things to cool the power of the weapon, but mostly messing with the availability of the weapon. In Apex Legends Season 13, Respawn moved the R-301 to the Replicators, trying to dissuade players from using the powerful rifle. Instead, it just allowed everyone still alive after the first few minutes to craft the best weapon in the game.
And while players are wondering if Respawn will ever nerf the R-301, they definitely want them to focus on matchmaking. Although this problem has been vocalized many times before, it was not until Twitter user @Optimacy117 posted a screenshot of their experience getting matched against higher-level players that Respawn finally responded. Ranked has always been a problem as higher-level players get placed against bronze-level players, completely decimating those games. And while streamers would probably love that scenario, most players would not.
Despite all the new content, Respawn has quite a bit to work on when it comes to the health of its game.
