BUCHAREST, ROMANIA: In a recent Twitter video, Andrew Tate, a polarizing figure known for his career in kickboxing and as an influencer, expressed his belief that true masculinity is being eroded by manipulating men into embracing their emotions so they become weaker. According to Tate, the "Matrix" aims to control men's behavior by encouraging them to act based on their feelings. In Tate-speak, the word "Matrix" references the 'The Matrix' movie franchise, starring Keanu Reeves, where humans are kept compliant by the Matrix that hides away the actual state of the real world.
Tate has garnered attention before for his controversial perspectives, including his views on depression, which he deems inappropriate for men to experience. Embracing what some consider toxic masculinity, Tate champions the notion that men should embody an air of mystique and resilience and disregard their emotions.
'They’re trying to convince you should act how you feel'
In the video captioned, "They’re trying to convince you should act how you feel", Tate suggests that there is an attempt to persuade individuals to align their actions with their emotions. He mentions that the message conveyed is to openly express one's feelings if that is how one genuinely feels. However, according to Tate, true masculinity lies in adopting a mindset where one fulfills tasks they may not necessarily desire to do but recognize the importance of doing so due to their sense of honor and duty.
Tate states, "They are trying to convince you that you should act how you feel. If you feel this way you should show it. But the true masculine frame doing the things they didn't wanna do, but they knew they had to do because they had honor and duty.
'Emotions are for cowards'
After Tate criticized the Matrix for deviating from conventional notions of masculinity, numerous users utilized Twitter as a platform to voice their opinions on the matter. One user wrote, "Naah, you should act with whats right. Emotions are for cowards." Another user wrote, "I don't think enough people understand how dangerous it is to act how you feel...Especially for men. Emotional control is a must. You can validate your emotions without allowing them to BLIND you." Another supporter of Tate chimed in and wrote, "If you act on how you feel, You are destined to fail as a man. Do the work, regardless of how you feel."
